New Dining App: Craveable

by Adam West

Recently, the Centre College dining instagram account posted about a new app they are going to start using called Craveable, as well as a website known as centredining.nutrislice.com that includes the same information. However, what is this app and what can it offer Centre students?

Craveable is designed to inform students about what Cowan will have that day, instead of students having to play it by ear every day. Parkhurst used to use the Catertrax website, although the information had to be put in manually every day and Catertrax only had what food Cowan had for lunch and dinner. The Catertrax website was also not well known by the students, and so is being replaced by Craveable. The Instagram post claims that Craveable app is designed to be a “new and improved way to dine.” It includes new dining features such as daily menus potentially up to a month in advance for every meal of the day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), allergen and nutritional information, future events, popups, and more.

One of the questions about Craveable is if it has a way to order late night instead of GET mobile. Tasha Bender, the Parkhurst marketing coordinator, said that the two apps are for “different purposes,” with Craveable being “for menu information, not just for the dining room, but also for the retail spaces, so it will show you what is available at Einstein’s, at Hall of Fame, but the ordering itself is still through the GET app.” However, Tasha did add that she hopes the Parkhurst corporation will look into consolidating down to one app and it is “definitely a possibility” once people become more familiar with the new app.

Through the Craveable app, people can also schedule a meeting with Chef Desmond to get a tour of the dining room, talk about accommodations that aren’t being met, or even just to ask if something will come back to the menu or not.

If you want this info but don’t want to download another app, then the website centredining.nutrislice.com includes all the same information and abilities. The Nutrislice website, in addition to the features Craveable offers, also includes information about where Parkhurst gets their food from, through a program called Know Your Source, where they work with local farms and businesses to get food nearby and support local businesses.

So, in conclusion, the Craveable is a new app from Parkhurst that allows students to see what is on the menu for all of the dining places on campus, can let people schedule a meeting with Chef Desmond, get allergen and nutritional information, find out about future events and popups, and more!
