Good day, everyone! There have been some early additions to the Spring 2026 Convocation Calendar, which are reflected on the document below. These events can also be found on the Convocations page on CentreNet.

Make sure to mark your calendars for these upcoming convocations! While the requirement for 12 convocations has been lifted, it is highly encouraged to continue attending. After all, you are liberal arts students at the Centre College, and should seek to broaden your horizons. These convocations will teach you more about the world and yourself.

Hangover Cures and College Productivity

Friday, February 13 | 7:30 pm- Young 113 (open to the public)

As much as we feign ignorance, it is no real secret that the “CentreTerm Challenge” exists on Centre’s campus. Every year, students make the grave decision to attempt to be inebriated every night of our beloved CentreTerm. This year, these students will be put to real work. During CentreTerm, those engaging in the challenge will be part of a research study about hangover cures and productivity levels post-cure. Our excellent research staff will concoct new hangover cures to allow even the most hungover students to attend 8:00am classes with no difficulty. On Friday, February 13th, the research will be presented to the study body at large to allow all students to take advantage of the discoveries.

Note: Student volunteers for participation in the so-called “CentreTerm Challenge” must be 21+. Otherwise, we don’t want to know.

McConnell vs. Scooters

Tuesday, March 24 | 8:00 pm- Walnut Street from Bingham to Cowan (open to the public)

They say four things are certain in Kentucky: death, taxes, increasing numbers of scooters around Centre threatening all our lives, and Mitch McConnell falling over all the time. What better way to combine the latter two than by inviting Mr. Turtle himself back to campus and forcing him to legitimise his governance as senator by making him dodge Centre students riding scooter? In what could be the greatest threat to his career, Mitch will shuffle his way down Walnut Street as erratic scooters fly all around him on all sides, with fans cheering loudly on both sides of Walnut Street. Will he take another one-day-of-media-worthy tumble and get run over by the motorised horde? There’s only one way to find out!

How to Throw a Frat Party

Friday, April 20 | 9:00-11:00 pm- Combs Warehouse (open to the public)

Centre students, are you tired of boring Frat Parties? Well, this is the solution: a training seminar on how to plan the perfect function. After all, some parties are just more fun than others, but the precise variables explaining why are elusive (a DLM 310 course studying this topic will be offered Fall 2026). However, experts from FRATS4EVA have the craft of making the perfect party down to a science. From how to DJ and boost the bass until no one knows what song is playing, to how to craft the perfect Cowan Banner, these experts will train attendees on what makes a party good—with hands-on-learning and a field trip down Greek Row afterwards.

Note: Greek 101, 201, and 301 are prerequisites for attending.

Battle of the Services: A Centre-lition Derby

Friday, May 8 | 7:00 pm- Andy Frye Field (open to the public)

Central Kentucky- the very much disputed home of the beautiful American creation that is the demolition derby. And what better way to honour this heritage than to stage our very own high-stakes, rip-roaring derby right here on campus, while also violating countless OSHA standards? Crack teams from Centre Maintenance and Facilities, DPS, the lawn crew, Danville Fire Department, and the railyard crew will have one week to trick out their golf carts, pickup trucks, fire engines and more to compete in a multi-hour battle royale where only one can be crowned as champion. The prize? Two extra vacation days! The football field will be completely carved out and filled with dirt and mud to set the stage for this major event, and Centre student tuition will be increased by a modest $9,000 per year beginning with the ‘27-’28 academic year in order to pay for damages! Get ready for one of the most expensive exciting Centre events you’ve ever attended!

The Overbooked Centre Singers Choirs Symphony Orchestra Players Theatre Jazz African Drum Kentucky Ensemble Chamber Music Extraordinaire

Tuesday, April 28 | 12:30-12:45 pm- Vahlkamp Theatre (NOT open to the public)

Oops! Due to your favourite Centre tradition- the absolute worst programme scheduling you’ve ever seen in your life- all the musical and theatrical ensembles accidentally booked the same venue for their final performance at exactly the same time. It’s an easy mistake to make, we understand- which is why we’ve decided to seek the most expedient route and combine them all into one groundbreaking grand finale. It’s all just music and theatre stuff, so they can’t be that different, right? In the conveniently cramped Vahlkamp theatre, each musical and theatrical ensemble will be positioned to each perform and play their entire end-of-semester program at exactly the same time in a comfortably condensed 15 minute period. We know you all love the loud, chaotic environment of frat parties, so why not bask in the same atmosphere while going out to support all your artistically-involved friends? Coincidentally, 19 sports events have been scheduled on the same night, so we’ve decided to efficiently place this event in the middle of the day when nobody has classes or anything. May the odds be ever in your favour!
