Centre Players’ No Exit

Centre Players’ No Exit opened to rave reviews! No Exit, written by Jean Paul Sartre, has three terrible people trapped in hell where they learn that “hell is other people.” Starring Atticus Haden, Macy Stone, Ryan Jones, and Brannock McCartan, and Centre Players VP Nate Brantley directing, the production officially went up Sept 13 and finished its run the next day, although there was a popular pre-screening on the 12th.

This exciting play follows Cradeau, Estelle, and Inez after they die and are locked in a room in hell together. The Valet leads each of the damned to a room that they will never leave. The flaws and misdeeds of each person come out as they realize they are stuck in eternal damnation and have to torture each other for all of time.

Although the play started out slow, introducing the audience to each character and hinting at the truth of what they did to deserve hell, the rest of the play had the audience captivated. I remember the raucous laughter of the people I ended up sitting next to throughout, and the dark humor of the play combined with the serious undertones created an enjoyable experience. I, for one, can’t wait to see what Centre Players does next!
