A crystal, water-like showcase is on display for two months through homecoming in the AEGON Gallery. Hot glass professor Patrick Martin is the man behind the stunning glassworks.
From a political statement to the impressive feats of glass manipulation, Prof. Martin exemplifies his years of hot glass blowing experience in a casual, lowkey environment. What is interesting about the exhibit is the lack of color (although, some may argue that the pieces have a turquoise tint). Nonetheless, all the pieces in the collection are made with clear glass. In addition, the pieces are untitled, suggesting that interpretation is up to the viewer. The pieces were made within the last twenty years of Martin’s career. Some are small while others are an impressive six feet tall — and there’s even an actual hammock made of glass!
Everyone is welcome to experience the gallery free of charge in the JVAC building.
