Colonels Beware!!!

by Macy Critchelow

Captain Danbeard has walked into Cowan and has pillaged all the citrus.
As he vigorously stomps with his pegleg clipping on the floor.
He addresses his audience in a loud, aggressive cadence.
“Peel, peel, rip, rip,
A Cutie in me hand,
I’ve stockpiled citrus by the chest,
The finest fruit in all the land.”
The lack of fruit in Cowan is not Centre College’s fault.
“Peel, peel, rip, rip,
We pirates once had none
No oranges aboard their ships,
No vitamin C beneath the sun.”
To save the inevitable fate of his crew, Captain Danbeard scurries back to his ship.
“Peel, peel, rip, rip,
For scurvy steals the strength of teeth,
When vitamin C runs dry;
So while our Cuties pile up high,
our pearly whites stay nigh!”
Now, while Cowan rests in despair with Captain Danbeard nowhere near.
The students of Centre College need to be aware of their inevitable fate
To switch places with the pirates.
To develop scurvy just when fate demands it.
