Dear Centre College,
\nYes, it is I, the infamous ghost of Grant Hall. Unless you are a theatre or music student, you may not know who I am, so I might as well introduce myself. Have you ever been in a practice room late at night and saw the lights flicker at the end of the hall, or heard footsteps when there was no one around? Have you ever been riding the elevator after a late rehearsal and had the elevator shake, coming close to stopping, then continue on as if nothing had happened? Have you ever studied in a classroom when the building was empty, yet felt the sneaking suspicion that someone else was there? Well\u2026that was me! Did I scare you? Guilty as charged!
\nBut I\u2019m not here to recount the hauntings I have caused within the walls of Grant, rather to mourn the hauntings I have NOT caused now that the elevator is broken. My hauntings have been reduced to hallways and stairwells, when you all know I much prefer a good old fashioned \u201cam I about to be trapped in an elevator\u201d scare. I mean, we all knew the elevator wasn\u2019t perfect, but that was what made Grant exciting! I do not enjoy living in the purgatory of the first floor, staring at that beautiful sliding door, waiting for someone to come and knowing they never will. I used to be able to distract myself from the miserable fluctuating temperatures of Grant by spooking a student on the elevator, but now I must sit and suffer! Oh Centre, have mercy on a poor specter and FIX THE ELEVATOR!
\nAlso, I must say, this campus must be in terrible shape from the amount of huffing and puffing I hear from the stairs. There has never been this much air flow in this building until now\u2014I can barely hold myself in one spot! I am sick and tired of hearing complaints about the stairs in this building. Please, go back to complaining about me! I am more terrifying than any cardiovascular activity could ever be! So, please, Centre\u2014how many 50 year old mechanical parts do you need before our lives can go back to normal? How many times must students come into classes with their legs shaking before you give them back their elevator? But most importantly, how long until you give me back MY HOME??
