I decided I wanted to try something new and went out one weekend. I enjoy partying, but I\u2019m of the opinion if you can’t enjoy something sober, you aren\u2019t enjoying it at all. I\u2019m a petite woman, so moving around in crowds can be daunting sometimes. When I showed up, the party was packed and everyone was plastered. I saw a lot of girls making out with each other, a lot of awkward guys standing in the corner. Anytime I tried to dance with someone they got awkward and turned to the people they came with. I go to a frat party to meet people, not stand around with people I already know. So I start dancing, enjoying my time as one does, and next thing I know, the room starts to reek. Come to find out, someone had the bright idea to pull a fart spray prank. Who does this benefit? It felt like an excuse to ruin people’s fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I stood outside the party for a while, trying to hold a conversation with the drunkards, AKA students, which was a fruitless endeavor. I moved to the next party that night, but unlike the last one, this one was a ghost town. So few people were there, it looked more like a bar after the final call than a party. I could only compare it to the feeling of being the last kid left waiting to get picked up from school. It no longer felt like a party, and just a room with some people in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, the experience wasn\u2019t atrocious, just annoying. You don\u2019t need to be drunk to have fun; there is a lot more fun to be had sober. I would love to see more sober events on campus. Some ideas are a mocktail and jazz night or a board game event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
