(Shocking)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>by Aelwen Iredale<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"223\" height=\"113\" src=\"https:\/\/cento.centre.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8380\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This summer, the much-anticipated <em>Deadpool and Wolverine<\/em> movie came to cinemas, and with it, Deadpool joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a fan of both Marvel and Deadpool, I was excited but had mixed feelings as to how well Marvel could characterize Deadpool. In fact, I even addressed my concerns in an earlier article about the film\u2019s trailer. I am happy to report that each of my fears was entirely unfounded\u2014the movie was excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just as in the trailer, Deadpool\u2019s trademark humor is hilarious and raunchy\u2014Marvel finally made a movie Rated R, and it is rated such for a reason. Deadpool even insulted Marvel\u2019s track record with movies for the last few years, which was extremely in character and amusing to the audience. Most of the time people are lying when they say they \u201claughed out loud,\u201d but I can say with 100% honesty that my theater was audibly laughing at a majority of Deadpool and other characters\u2019 jokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the Time Variance Authority\u2019s presence in the trailer had been a source of worry of mine due to its ties to the <em>LOKI <\/em>television show. I did not want the development of the TVA to be undone. They had gone from antagonistic and harming universes to protectors of the multiverse, and I worried that Marvel would unwrite that development in the Deadpool movie. However, for once, Marvel seemed to have communicated between departments and watched their own shows instead of completely erasing character development (e.g., <em>Wandavision <\/em>and <em>Multiverse of Madness<\/em> having completely opposite versions of Wanda Maximoff). Fortunately, the faction of the TVA present in the Deadpool movie is a rogue group from that of the <em>LOKI <\/em>television show and is aware they are not acting as they should. This makes them legitimate antagonists while not conflicting with the <em>LOKI <\/em>show. Is it a bit contrived? Yes. But it does follow the idea that not everyone would fall into line after the <em>LOKI <\/em>show\u2019s events in the TVA, so I approve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I wanted <em>Deadpool and Wolverine<\/em> to be a fun movie, and it was. Every character was amazing, I was laughing my head off, the music choices were phenomenal, and the storyline was touching. Marvel has been on a bad run of movies, but, finally, they created a movie that was just fun from beginning to end. So, find a time to watch <em>Deadpool and Wolverine<\/em>.
