{"id":2347,"date":"2015-10-01T08:00:39","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T12:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cento.centre.edu\/?p=2347"},"modified":"2015-10-01T08:00:39","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T12:00:39","slug":"fall-for-fall-things-to-do-this-autumn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cento.centre.edu\/index.php\/2015\/10\/01\/fall-for-fall-things-to-do-this-autumn\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall for Fall: Things to do this autumn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY SHRUTI RAM &#8211; STAFF WRITER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The leaves have begun to pepper the ground around campus and the weather is cooling down, and that can only mean one thing: fall, the season of Halloween, sweater weather, and pumpkin spiced lattes is here.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFall is my favorite season by far,\u201d sophomore Zoe Doubles said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love the colors of fall the best,\u201d senior Maggie Kaus said, \u201cit\u2019s so much to just drive around and look at all of the greens, browns, oranges and reds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What exactly about fall makes it one of the most beloved seasons on campus?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite thing to do in the fall is sitting by the fire in the campus center,\u201d junior Kortney Trevino said, \u201cand getting to bundle up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some people\u2019s favorite thing to do in the fall is grabbing a cup of one of the season\u2019s iconic drinks \u2013 warm apple cider or pumpkin spiced lattes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love pumpkin spiced lattes,\u201d sophomore Brenna Atmore said, \u201cand I\u2019m not ashamed to admit it. I love it when Cowan has pumpkin spiced coffee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pumpkin spiced lattes seem to be a polarizing drink. Kaus expressed her distaste for the drink: \u201cI much prefer spiced apple cider.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While some students love being able to wrap themselves in a blanket and cuddle up with their favorite book, drink or person, others like the darker aspects of the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Hayley Sinnot\u2019s favorite part of the fall is Halloween.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love spooky things like haunted houses, and getting lost in Devine\u2019s corn maze,\u201d Sinnot said. \u201cI\u2019m hoping to drive down to one of the haunted houses next month. And it is always fun dressing up for Halloween and seeing the variety of different characters out at night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, all students in the fall seem to love taking advantage of the pleasant weather outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite thing to do during the fall is going on walks around town,\u201d junior Haidar Khan said.<\/p>\n<p>Though Danville is a small town, it always seems to be full of fun outdoor activities and events, from the annual BBQ festival to activities in Shaker Village, which allow Danville residents and Centre students alike to take advantage of the good weather. Millennium Park is only a thirty minute walk from campus and is a great location for students who prefer to run outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love going to Devine\u2019s corn maze in fall,\u201d Trevino said, referencing another place frequented by Centre students in the fall. In addition to the corn maze, Devine\u2019s also has a petting zoo, pumpkin picking, and a nightly bonfire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cApple picking and pumpkin carving are so much fun to do in the fall,\u201d Atmore said.<\/p>\n<p>Another great thing about fall is that it\u2019s the season of America\u2019s favorite sport \u2013 football, and full of opportunities for students to show off their Centre pride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love that it\u2019s football and volleyball season,\u201d sophomore Zoe Doubles said. \u201cI love being able to play my favorite sport and go to football games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whether it\u2019s the sports, the drinks, or activities outside or in, fall seems to be the season that has something for everyone, and Danville and Centre seem to provide plenty of opportunities for students to do their favorite fall activities. So what are you waiting for?
