From class reunions to a swimming and diving Meet and alumni baseball game to ELO and Electric Light Orchestra Part II and Ben Sollee concerts, this Homecoming weekend promises to be exciting. Starting on Thursday evening and ending Sunday afternoon, there will be activities and events for both alumni and current students.

Megan Milby, Director of Alumni Affairs, said that this weekend “There’s a little something for everyone!” She and others in her office have been planning these events and are quite excited about the turnout they expect. They hope to see throughout the four-day celebration over a thousand alumni; with opportune weather, this will be a slight increase in the number of attendees.

There will be class reunions for those from the classes of 1955 to 2010. There will be a 1965 artist gallery at the Boyle County Library and a show with painter Thuan Vu ’95, in JVAC.

“Earlier this year, one of the most beloved deans at Centre College passed away,” Milby said. “On Saturday morning, October 3, alumni, faculty, and staff of the College will gather at the Presbyterian Church to remember Dr. Max Cavnes.”

Intertwined with all of these events will be a whole host of athletic events, some of which include and involve alumni. Attendees will have “the opportunity to honor distinguished alumni and outstanding athletes, cheer on our student-athletes, reconnect with professors, hear live music from Ben Sollee and enjoy a day at Keeneland!” Milby noted.

Milby and her staff hope to see current students wearing gold and white this weekend to show support and Centre pride. And, as alumni always love talking to current students and sharing their stories, stop by at any happenings you can and enjoy this weekend’s celebration of the Centre Experience.
